Who Will Be Knoxville's Next Mayor?

The 2023 election for Knoxville’s next mayor will be a hotly contested race, with each candidate vying for your vote. Every voice and every vote matters!

But there are so many dates and deadline to keep track of – that’s where AARP comes in. We’ve compiled all the important dates and resources to make sure you can exercise your right to vote for the next mayor.

Since the last mayoral election, there may have been changes to the district map. Check out the current Map of Knoxville City Districts and the Map of Polling Locations.

Registered voters in Knoxville will go to the polls on August 29, Knoxville’s primary election day. Before then, there are some key dates to be aware of as you prepare to vote:

May 31: First day to request an absentee ballot: May 31
July 31: Voter Registration Deadline: July 31 (Register to Vote: www.GoVoteTN.com)
August 9: First Day of Early Voting: August 9
August 22: Last Day to Request an Absentee Ballot
August 24: Final Day of Early Voting
August 29: Primary Election Day

If none of the candidates receives at least 51% of the vote during the August 3 primary, the top two vote-getters will enter into a run-off, which is scheduled to be held on November 7, 2023.

In the event of a run-off, here are the key dates you’ll need to know:

October 10: Voter Registration Deadline
October 18: First Day of Early Voting
October 31: Last Day to Request an Absentee Ballot
November 2: Final Day of Early Voting
November 7: Run-off Election Day
