Keeping Your Home Safe, Smart and Uniquely Yours

Is your home safe enough for you to continue living in it independently as you age? What extra precautions or assistance might you need? How much will home adjustments cost, and what regulations do you need to follow?

AARP HomeFit is here to help you live smarter and safer--and to help you evaluate the “livability” of your own home. The workshops, which have kicked off around the state this fall, are designed to help with simple home restoration tips and provide you a better understanding of your possible future needs.

Highlighting dangers such as over-the-stove oven switches, slippery stair cases and inaccessible restrooms, HomeFit will help you know what to look out for and how you can make the appropriate adjustments. Presentations walk through every room and safety precaution that can be found in your home. Then, we discuss restorations that can be made for wheelchair, non-wheelchair and walker needs.

Keep your home feeling like a home while staying safe.

We have just one workshop left, but don't despair: The website is also chock full of great ideas.
