Named after AARP’s founder, Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus, the Andrus Award honors outstanding individuals whose volunteer work has improved their community, supported AARP’s vision and mission, and inspired others.

DC resident Gloria Roberts-Henry was the 2020 DC Andrus Award recipient for community service. Gloria Roberts-Henry has been a mentor and supporter for young people in her Ward 6 community, providing clothes, meals and a place to stay for those that need it. She has enhanced the lives of countless young people with her unwavering support and direction when they had nowhere else to turn. We will honor Ms. Roberts-Henry and all of our nominees during the ceremony!
