Congratulations to Gloria Roberts-Henry, 2020 DC Andrus Award recipient for community service!

Gloria Roberts-Henry has been a mentor and supporter for young people in her Ward 6 community, providing clothes, meals and a place to stay for those that need it. She has enhanced the lives of countless young people with her unwavering support and direction when they had nowhere else to turn.

Named after AARP’s founder, Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus, the Andrus Award honors outstanding individuals whose volunteer work has improved their community, supported AARP’s vision and mission, and inspired others.

In other Andrus Award news… AARP DC is looking ahead to spring 2021 to celebrate the Andrus Award winner. And that’s not the only change. In 2021 we will host an evening reception instead of our usual luncheon. This change was made to be inclusive of all the volunteers who participated and contributed to the community during 2020. The event will feature a night of music, food, wine tasting and door prizes.

Tentative date: Thursday, April 22, 2021
Time: 6 to 9 pm
