Thank You, Volunteers!

In honor of National Volunteer Month, we want to thank our DC volunteers for all that they have done to give back to our community.

Volunteers are the foundation of AARP. We thank you for your unwavering dedication to this organization, humanity, and commitment. We are blessed and fortunate to have you all as our passionate volunteers. Your hard work does not go unnoticed and you have our sincerest appreciation.

For ways to get involved with the AARP DC State Office, AARP DC is always accepting volunteers to engage in advocacy, join the Speaker’s Bureau, and host community outreach events.

On April 23rd, AARP DC will host an AARP DC Volunteer Virtual Open House. Positions that will be discussed are Ward Representatives, Training Facilitators (Fraud, Caregiving, Driver Safety, etc.), and Advocates for Seniors (Utilities, Caregiving, Fraud, Housing, Health Care, etc.). Ideal Volunteers are retired lawyers, medical professionals, community organizers and educators, faith-based leaders, local business owners, and bi-lingual volunteers! This virtual event will be from 10:00 am-11:00 am.

Additionally, AARP has launched a new platform, “Community Connections.” This informal online organizing tool enables seniors to find and start virtual mutual aid groups. The platform offers a way to stay connected, share ideas, and help those most affected by the Coronavirus.
