AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Providing Free Tax Prep Help

By Janet Lam-Rogers, AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Volunteer

It’s that time of year again.  Millions of low- to moderate- income people, especially those 50 and older, could use some help preparing their taxes. Volunteers for AARP Foundation Tax-Aide are ready to help make sure you get all the deductions and credits you deserve. We help people in our own communities with a much-needed service that's free, individualized, and has no strings attached.

Starting February 1, AARP Foundation Tax-Aide will provide free tax preparation and electronic filing at sites throughout the state. There’s no fee and no sales pitch for other services, and AARP membership is not required.  Whether you are a first time taxpayer, just starting retirement, or someone who simply needs a bit of help to get through your tax returns this year due to life changes that make your taxes a little more complicated, our team of IRS-certified volunteers can make it easy for you.  And with electronic filing at all sites, taxpayers will receive their tax refunds quickly.

Since 1968, AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, the nation’s largest free tax assistance and preparation service has helped more than 50 million taxpayers in every state.  The program has over 35,000 volunteers and 6,000 locations in neighborhood libraries, malls, banks, community centers and senior centers across the country.  Last year, we helped 2.6 million people file their tax returns – free of charge.
