AARP Washington is pleased to welcome Kay Tomlinson of Lake Tapps as the newest member of our statewide Executive Council. This volunteer leadership team plays a pivotal role in shaping the strategic vision and initiatives for nearly 870,000 members across the state.

"We're excited that Kay has agreed to serve on our Executive Council," said AARP
Washington State President Ron Chew. "Her extensive background and expertise in working with older adults to raise awareness about current fraud trends will be a tremendous asset as we strive to ensure that Washington's older adults and their families have the knowledge and resources they need to take control of their finances."

After retiring six years ago from a successful career in financial management for national and international companies, Tomlinson became a member of AARP Washington's volunteer team. Since then, she has played a key role in the state's volunteer Speakers Bureau, with a strong passion for promoting healthy living, caregiving education, and brain health.

In recent years, Tomlinson has emerged as a lead educator for AARP's Fraud Watch Network, focusing on fraud and cybercrime prevention. Her efforts aim to increase awareness and provide tools that older adults can use to reduce their risk of financial exploitation. As the host of AARP Washington's monthly Fraud Watch Friday broadcasts, she addresses emerging scams and invites audience members to share their own fraud-related questions.

"I am deeply honored to join the Executive Council of AARP Washington,” said Tomlinson. “This is a meaningful opportunity for me to help further AARP's mission, and I’m committed to working alongside others to champion the issues that matter most to older adults — healthcare, caregiving, financial protection and many more."

“I am excited that Kay has accepted our invitation to join the AARP Washington Executive Council,” said Marguerite Ro, AARP Washington State Director. “Kay is a dynamic educator and volunteer leader whose passion and dedication for improving the lives of older adults inspires those around her.”

Tomlinson is a Presidential Scholar graduate of City University, a former Board President of the Domestic Abuse Women's Network, and a certified Toastmaster.
