AARP Wisconsin is recruiting volunteers to help other state residents file returns in the tax season ahead. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide offers free face-to-face assistance to low- and moderate-income taxpayers, especially those age 60-plus, at convenient sites such as libraries and senior and community centers.

Earlier this year, 865 volunteers helped more than 67,000 Wisconsinites file their returns. “Older adults on fixed incomes often cannot afford the cost of tax preparation services,” said Sam Wilson, AARP state director.

Volunteers will be trained by AARP and the Internal Revenue Service in November or December and will begin working at sites close to home about Feb. 1. To sign up, call 888-227-7669 toll-free or visit aarp.org/taxvolunteer.
