AARP AARP States Georgia Caregiving

Actress & Advocate Holly Robinson Peete, Author Sherri Snelling to Keynote Live Online Family Caregiving Fair presented by AARP

AARP today announced actress and advocate Holly Robinson Peete will headline a live, Online Family Caregiving Fair scheduled for Thursday, November 17. Registration for the event, which is free, can be made Here:

Peete, who is best known for her roles on 21 Jump Street and Hanging’ with Mr. Cooper, simultaneously cared for a father with Parkinson’s disease and a son with autism. She will discuss juggling caregiving and work, facing hurdles as a family caregiver and balancing caring for yourself while caring for a loved one during a webinar also featuring author and caregiving expert Sherri Snelling. At the conclusion of the webinar, Peete and Snelling will take audience questions.

In addition, AARP’s Online Family Caregiving Fair, which can be accessed virtually via any computer, will include chat sessions focused helping caregivers as they deal with stress. Participants will also have access to family caregiving resources from more than 20 non-profits, government agencies and AARP. Organizations scheduled to participate during the Online Family Caregiving Fair include the U.S. Administration on Aging, the Alzheimer’s Association, the American Cancer Society, SAGE, the U.S. Veteran’s Administration, and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

“Family caregivers from across the country will be able to connect during the Online Family Caregiving Fair using easy-to-use technology,” said Alice Bennett, Associate State Director-Community Outreach. “By registering Here participants will connect with valuable resources that could help them on their family caregiving journey.”

Additional webinars featured during the Online Family Caregiving Fair will focus on family caregiving and financial planning and Medicare.

There are more than 1.3 million family caregivers in Georgia.
