Thousands of people are expected to attend one of the nation’s largest assemblies of native people—the Alaska Federation of Natives Convention—this fall in Fairbanks.
The event, which runs from Thursday, Oct. 17, to Saturday, Oct. 19, will feature native art and performances, exhibits, a health fair and presentations by experts. It will be held at the Carlson Center, at 2010 Second Ave.
As a sponsor, AARP Alaska will have a booth with information about issues such as financial security and caregiving, and the association’s advocacy efforts.
“AARP was founded in support of elders’ health and dignity, so we’re pleased to support this important event that celebrates work and unity across generations,” said Daryl Royce, AARP Alaska outreach director.
