Help Ensure Accurate 2020 Census Count in Alaska

A 2020 U.S. census form

U.S. Census takers in Alaska face unique challenges, including seasonal icy conditions that make it hard to get into remote areas.

The 2020 Census kicks off Tuesday, Jan. 21, with interviews of residents in remote Toksook Bay, and continues through April. Most Alaskans will receive cards inviting them to respond online, by mail or by phone.

AARP urges Alaskans to respond to the Census to ensure the state’s fair share of federal funding for schools, roads and other services. Organizations can call 866-227-7447 for an AARP Alaska presentation about the census.

AARP’s Fraud Watch Network describes how to identify census scammers at aarp.org/money/scams-fraud/info-2019/census. For more information, go to alaskacounts.org.

To apply for a job with the census, go to 2020census.gov/jobs.
