We are very excited to announce the launch of AARP Arizona Hispanic Connection, a radio-social media platform. This platform will convene community thought leaders to educate on relevant issues (such as history, health, education, money, and other), celebrate Latino accomplishments (academically, politically, business, arts), and connect Hispanics of all generations.

We recently held stakeholders meetings and identified a good number of issue experts that are ready to share valuable information. We also learned that many recognition events take place throughout our state, and that many Arizonans want to connect. Our platform will facilitate all three elements: education, celebration, and connection.

Dr. Adriana Perez, a partner in this effort expressed the following: “The AARP Arizona Hispanic Connection will provide an important and dynamic platform to promote a culture of Health for local and regional communities. I am excited to join this unique initiative, focused on the strengths and past, present and future contributions of Arizona Hispanic leaders that make an impact every day in their own field.  For me, having this platform, supported by AARP, will provide a powerful tool for nurses, social workers, physicians, and other health care providers to engage in social media and radio discussions that cover timely health issues that impact Arizona Hispanics, including resources for leading health across generations!"

The platform will consist of a Facebook page, a weekly radio program, and a YouTube channel. See details below:

  • Facebook: www.facebook.com/aarparizonahispanicconnection
  • Radio Program (our show will be in English):1190-AM / Saturdays 8 am – 9 am AZ time / Launches May 6, 2017Radio shows available also by Facebook Live @aarparizonahispanicconnectionand at the station’s website: hwww.onda1190am.com

If you would like to join this platform simply find our Facebook page and like it. Please also invite your friends and family members to do the same.

We would like to recognize local artist David Murrieta for creating the painting being used for our social media images and soon to be used on a mural. A big shutout also to local talent and producer Miguel Alonso for creating our music jingle.

We at AARP Arizona are very excited to make this platform available and thus facilitate a service that involves Latinos engaging Latinos, a platform that, through education and fun events, will connect community members of all generations.
