Fall 2023 Volunteer Update

Arkansas Volunteers in Action.png

Hello Volunteers!
We tallied your votes and the unanimous winner of our newsletter naming contest was "Arkansas Volunteers in Action." We love it and hope you do too. In fact, we have so many ways for you to engage that we hope you will plug in and get involved with us. The fall may herald cooling temperatures, but event season is heating up at AARP Arkansas and we need your help. Below, please review the list of some of our events where we are actively recruiting volunteers from around the state to take part in AARP Arkansas' mission to "empower people to choose how they live as they age."

We need your help.
AARP Arkansas has many upcoming events. Plug in by contacting me or your Hub leaders.

Hub 1 - Northwest Arkansas - Pat Parish or Billy Yates
Hub 2 - Central Arkansas - Bonnie Boyd or Sandra Fairbanks
Hub 7 - Delta - Leroy Williams or Tamara Hood Cross

Upcoming Hub meetings include:
Hub 2 October 12, State Office, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Register here!

Hub 2 volunteers will help at the AARP Arkansas Financial Planning seminar on October 5. Volunteers will assist at the welcome table, help pass out lunch and encourage guests to participate with the AARP Arkansas Social Security Plinko Game.

Brand new for Hub 7, we are excited to share that we will be doing our very first SHRED FEST on October 21 in West Memphis. We need volunteers to register and check in cars, hand out goodie bags, and help with set up/clean up. This is a great opportunity for church youth groups, Scouts, and others!

Attention Hub 1, help us spread the word about our October 26 Caregiving event in Fort Smith. Register to attend or get more info here. Volunteers will assist with registration, keep refreshments stocked and help guests with our new Simple Booth Selfie Station.

These events would not be successful without your help. If you like the work we are doing in your Hub, please contact me or your Hub leaders to volunteer.

AARP Arkansas is proud to announce the new Volunteer Onboarding Team. This team supports volunteer outreach and the onboarding of new volunteers for AARP Arkansas. The Volunteer Onboarding Team will work closely with me to contact prospective volunteers and provide them with onboarding information. The onboarding team serves as a connector and convener by facilitating an easy-entry process for new volunteers. This team serves as a valuable liaison to ensure volunteers are engaged with the AARP Arkansas State Office. If you are interested in welcoming and onboarding new volunteers into the AARP Arkansas volunteer family please contact me to join this team.
