As of November 1, 2025, millions of Americans—including many older adults—may not receive their monthly food benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. This disruption affects individuals living on fixed incomes, many of whom rely on SNAP to afford groceries and maintain their health.

This November, AARP Colorado is celebrating National Family Caregivers Month with events and resources to entertain and empower caregivers across the state.
AARPCO sat down with the candidates for Governor to hear their ideas on essential services for older adults, how they would promote retirement savings, and create livable communities. The two candidates were given 60 seconds to answer each of the questions that were posed. Check out the video to see how they responded, and remember to VOTE in the upcoming election on November 6.

Did you know there is a state agency representing your interests in electricity and natural gas utility matters before the Colorado Public Utilities Commission (CPUC)?
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is looking to expand its team of volunteers for the upcoming tax season. Tax-Aide, now in its 51 st year, offers free in-person preparation and assistance to anyone, especially those 50 and older, who can’t afford a tax preparation service. Volunteers make a difference in their communities by assisting many older, lower-income taxpayers, and their families, who might otherwise miss out on the tax credits and deductions they’ve earned.
Between the ages of 16 and 21, Frank Abagnale successfully posed as an airline pilot, an attorney, a doctor and cashed millions in fraudulent checks. In case you didn’t read the best-selling book…spoiler alert…he got caught and his exploits were depicted in the movie Catch Me If You Can starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
Join us on Saturdays in September for Downtown Walking Tours in collaboration with the Colorado Springs YMCA. Downtown Walking Tours* are hour-long guided tours introducing the historic landmarks, contemporary artwork, and cultural highlights of Downtown Colorado Springs. The walks are designed to be inclusive and are themed, educational, social events that can bring communities together in a healthy and fun environment.
