The Caregiver's Cairn: Caregiving Educational Events—Wray, Colorado

JB2
Blog by Jane Barton

Greetings one and all...

Welcome back to The Caregiver’s Cairn - a sustaining and empowering guide for caregivers and care receivers. I hope you and yours have enjoyed a lovely month since my last posting. I invite you to pour a cup of coffee or hot tea, curl up in a cozy chair, and take a deep breath. Today, I want to share some information about upcoming educational events in northeast Colorado. On June 9-10, AARP is sponsoring four programs on various aspects of caregiving that I will present. Encore Life, Inc. of Wray, Colorado is serving as the local collaborative partner and gracious host for all events. Please join us to learn beneficial information for yourself, your family, and your clients. All are welcome! Registration information is noted at the conclusion of this blog posting if you opt to attend. And, I hope you do!

I am a firm believer that knowledge is power. This is particularly true when dealing with the challenges posed by caregiving. We are much better served if we proactively plan for the journey instead of reacting to the crises triggered by aging and illness. Have you ever heard of compassion fatigue? Why do most people fear the prospect of growing old? Why do we often feel compelled to care for others? How can collaborative care transform the caregiving experience for caregivers and care receivers? If you are curious about the answers to these questions and many more, please join us for any or all of the programs. All programs will be held at The Wray City Hall (Round House), 245 W. 4th Street, Wray, Colorado:

June 9 @ 5:30 - 7:00 PM

Compassion Fatigue—When It Hurts to Care

June 10 @ 9:30 - 11:00 AM

Called to Serve—The Wounded Healer

June 10 @ 1:00 - 4:00 PM

Program 1: Caregiving in the 21st Century

Program 2: Aging—The Opportunity of a Lifetime!

June 10 @ 5:30 - 7:00 PM

Collaborative Care—Working & Caring Together

All programs are FREE of charge. However, registration is required. Please contact Encore Life, Inc. at 970-332-4071 by June 4, 2015 to register. I look forward to seeing you then and there!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I invite you to share your perspective on the caregiving journey. Make suggestions. Pose questions. Provide resources. Share your story. Coming together and sharing, we will improve the process for one and all. I look forward to continuing the conversation next month. Til then, blessings to you and yours...Jane W. Barton
