Ms. Colorado Senior America, a Queen of Comedy

Loveland resident Jeanne Nott, newly crowned Ms. Colorado Senior America 2022, has spent nearly all her life spreading good cheer through music, comedy and drama.

Nott first appeared on stage at age four when she performed as the Pineapple in Fruit Bowl Ballet at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Vineland, N.J. She toured Europe as soprano soloist with the Pfeiffer College Concert Choir.

Moving to Colorado in 1972, she has performed with the Main Street Players, Moon Theater Company and Bas Bleu Theatre, earning a Best Actor Award from the Colorado Community Theatre Coalition. She was a storyteller with the former theatrical show, the “Tale Spinner Lounge” in Fort Collins and performs at senior centers and assisted living homes in Northern Colorado as Why Nott Laugh! Stand-up Comedy for Seniors.

“I have always loved telling jokes and making people laugh,” said Nott. “In high school, when everyone else was buying rock ’n roll albums I was buying comedy albums. Bob Newhart was my favorite. If laughter is the best medicine, then there is no better prescription than comedy tailored just for seniors.”

Nott’s serious side includes serving as executive assistant to former Colorado Governor Richard Lamm at the Center for Public Policy at the University of Denver, and as resident manager of a 55-plus community in Denver.

Nott was crowned at the 27^th Ms. Colorado Senior America Pageant on October 23 at the PACE Theatre in Parker. She said a dear friend who was crowned Ms. Colorado Senor America in 2002 helped inspire her to join the pageant.

“I was turning 73, furloughed from my part-time job because of COVID and knew I needed to do something different,” she said. “Once I learned more about the organization, I was hooked. It is not a beauty pageant, but rather emphasizes and honors women who reached the ‘age of elegance’.”

As 2022 Queen, Nott said she will use her skills as a speaker and humorist “to promote and enhance the dignity and security of all senior women in Colorado. We are now in the third act of our lives, and I encourage all senior women to remain confident, share our wisdom and kindness, and be an example to younger generations.”

In addition to responsibilities within Colorado, Nott will represent Colorado when she competes for the national title of Ms. Senior America in the Ms. Senior America Pageant in September in Hershey, Penn.
