Sedgwick County and the city of Thornton are the newest Colorado members of the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities. They join 20 other Colorado counties or localities that are also members, including places like Carbondale. The city’s age-friendly efforts have included repairing sidewalks and placing benches around the city to provide rest stops for walkers.
When temperatures are very high or very low, scammers take advantage of the heating and cooling needs of consumers. Utility scammers commonly pose as someone who works for your gas, water or electric company. These scams can be very tricky because they often know your name, address and the correct name of your utility provider. Their goal is often to work quickly to convince you they hold important resources like your heat, A/C, power and water in their hands.
Participants nominate caregivers to receive a Visa gift card worth $500 to help a caregiver receive a good or service. Nominations will be considered from a written article, up to 250 words, submitted electronically via a OneDrive form.
