Position Overview:
AARP Georgia is seeking a motivated Communications Intern to collaborate with the Communications Manager on various tasks, including social media content creation, graphic design using tools like Canva, metrics analysis, and advertising strategies. This exciting opportunity involves working on real-world projects and contributing to initiatives that make a positive impact on people's lives.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply strategic and creative thinking to promote policy issues on family caregiving, health and wellness, and retirement security.
  • Engage in communication strategies to advance these issues and support events organized by the team.
  • Participate in team meetings, strategy discussions, and collaborate on communication tactics for both remote and in-person events.

Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university program (undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post-doctoral students).
  • Self-starter with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs; familiarity with video creation and editing is a plus.
  • Ability to work well with diverse populations and manage multiple projects.

Additional Requirements:

  • Regular and reliable job attendance.
  • Independent judgment in evaluating options to make sound decisions.
  • Ability to work in an office/open office environment and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

Flexible Work Arrangement:
AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, within the United States and its territories.

Compensation and Benefits:
Hourly range: $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, $28 for Ph.D. candidates. Internships are non-exempt positions and not eligible for employee benefits.
