With flu season among us, we need our immune systems to be stronger than ever! Here are some foods that will help boost your immune system.
1. Sweet Potatoes
Sweet potatoes are rich in vitamin A, which is important for normal vision and reproduction. Instead of having French fries as a side dish, try sweet potato fries for a healthier option.
2. Mushrooms
Mushrooms are one of the only fruits that contain vitamin D. Although we usually get vitamin D from the sun or supplements, mushrooms are a great way to consume vitamin D during the winter. Spinach and mushroom smothered chicken is a great way to get your source of vitamin D.
3. Citrus fruits
Fruits like oranges, lemons, and grapefruit contain vitamin C. Vitamin C can also be a good vitamin to take if you have high blood pressure. Citrus fruits can be blended into your favorite morning smoothie!
4. Broccoli
Broccoli contains vitamins A, C, and E. Broccoli can easily be added as a side dish for any lunch or dinner meal. Chicken and broccoli stir fry can be an option for a dinner meal.
5. Spinach
Spinach is high in Vitamin C. Spinach can always be served as a side dish, or it could be worked into your favorite recipe!
