Help for Starting or Growing a Business

career cross roads
Thinking about starting a new business, and which way to go?

AARP Idaho and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) are hosting two Encore Entrepreneur events in July to help Idahoans age 50-plus start or grow a new business. The workshops offer opportunities for budding entrepreneurs to get information and connect with mentors who have small-business experience.

The events are in Boise, July 19, 9 to 10:30 a.m., and Pocatello, July 20, 1:30 to 3 p.m. Community leaders will be on hand, along with counselors and mentors from SBA and SCORE, a nonprofit organization that provides business mentoring services.

Sixty-three percent of Americans plan to continue to work in their “retirement” years, and about 25 percent of those ages 44-70 are interested in becoming entrepreneurs. Small-business owners who have long-term counselors experience greater success.
