Shred It: Bring Documents to Help Prevent ID Theft

Looking to keep your identify safe? AARP Idaho is offering a free opportunity to shred personal documents — and possibly keep scammers at bay.

The event will be held Saturday, July 20, at Idaho State University-Meridian (1311 E. Central Drive), from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Each person can shred up to 10 boxes of personal documents.

Federal officials received more than 2,200 reports of identity theft from Idaho consumers in 2023. Experts encourage shredding as a way to thwart criminals who steal personal and financial information.
