Helping Workers Save for Retirement

A new AARP survey shows that 88 percent of Kansas voters would support legislation that makes it easier to save for retirement.

More than 420,000 Kansans work for an employer that does not offer a retirement plan. That’s more than 40 percent of all the state’s private-sector employees.

And more than half of registered Kansas voters ages 25 to 64 surveyed said they are anxious about retirement.

As state lawmakers prepare for the start of the 2020 legislative session on Jan. 13, AARP Kansas is working to get a bill introduced that would create a retirement savings program option for workers without access to employer-sponsored plans.
