AARP, the Alzheimer's Association, & the Trager Institute host virtual Dementia Education Series

Do you want to learn more about Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia? AARP Kentucky, the Alzheimer’s Association, and the University of Louisville Trager Institute are hosting a free series to facilitate conversation about this critical topic. Join us for an informative three-part Dementia Education Series every Tuesday from June 29th to July 13th at 6:30-7:30 pm ET.

The sessions include:

June 29th - 10 Warning Signs
Learn how to recognize common signs of the disease; approach someone about memory concerns; possible tests and assessments for the diagnostic process, and the importance of early detection and benefits of a diagnosis.

July 6th - Understanding & Responding to Dementia-Related Behavior
Learn to decode behavioral messages and common behavior triggers and learn strategies to help intervene.

July 13th - Effective Communication Strategies
Explore how communication occurs when someone has Alzheimer’s, learn to decode the verbal and behavioral messages delivered by someone with dementia, and identify strategies to help you connect and communicate at each stage of the disease.

The series is free, but you will need to register in advance* to access the events. Sign up for one or all three.
