WHY:

Following updates and comments by Congressman Andy Barr joins AARP Kentucky focusing on answering constituents’ questions about federal and state resources helping Kentuckians affected by COVID-19. More than 81,000 AARP members reside in Kentucky’s Sixth Congressional District.

AARP has been working to promote the health and well-being of older Americans for more than sixty years. In the face of this crisis, AARP Kentucky is providing information and resources to its help older people and those caring for them protect themselves from the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and prevent it spreading.

In the U.S., the first deaths due to the virus were Americans over the age of 50. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), older people and people with underlying health conditions, like heart disease, lung disease and diabetes, are about twice as likely to develop serious outcomes versus younger, healthier people.
