AARP Kentucky and its advocacy volunteers helped secure the passage of several new state laws this year.

A new consumer protection law makes it a class D felony to tamper with gift card packaging to steal the redemption information and then drain a card’s balance after a consumer has purchased it. AARP Kentucky also supported a bill that allows family caregivers to cast the ballot of their loved ones at their polling locations.

Other new laws focus on promoting equitable housing and enhancing financial literacy. Learn more at aarp.org/ky.
