Local Grants Make Big Impact in Kentucky

The AARP Community Challenge program awarded six grants to Kentucky organizations this year for improvement projects.

  • In Florence, a bicycle rack and bike repair station will be installed at Florence Christian Church for use by residents. 
  • In the Cincinnati metro area, the Campbell County Senior Center in Highland Heights will build two raised-bed planters and host gardening workshops.
  • In the southeastern part of the state, a grant will pay for a 3D printer, pipe benders and a drill press for a program in Hazard that refurbishes used medical equipment and adapts toys to aid people with disabilities. 
  • In Louisville, a park being developed in the city’s underserved California neighborhood will get three fitness stations.
  • In Beaver Dam, old wooden doors will be turned into works of art illustrating the city’s history and mounted  downtown. 
  • Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky will offer intergenerational events around the state for grandparents and grandchildren.
