AARP Louisiana is looking for exceptional volunteer leaders to represent the Lake Charles, Lafayette and Monroe regions on the Executive Council -- the top volunteer team who bring a variety of skills, experience and backgrounds to the state team.
On Saturday, May 11th you have the opportunity to participate with thousands of AARP members to help "Stamp Out Hunger."
AARP Louisiana is calling for nominations for the 2013 Andrus Award for Community Service -- the most prestigious and visible volunteer award.
Right now in every legislative district across the state, AARP volunteer advocates are meeting with legislators in advance of the legislative session.
From 2001 through 2009, the number of people age 50 and above struggling with hunger or lacking sufficient nutrition and food resources rose by almost 80 percent. Today, nearly 9 million older Americans are at risk of hunger. Unless we act, that number will only increase as the aging population grows.
