AARP Maryland officials cheered the House of Delegates and Senate’s decision to stand in support of family caregivers by voting to override Governor Hogan’s veto of SB 275, paid family leave legislation.
AARP Maryland is honoring exceptional Marylanders aged 50-plus for their volunteerism and commitment to service. The awards were formally presented October 7 before nearly 80 guests at a virtual ceremony.
AARP Maryland is accelerating its multi-cultural outreach with the launch of a new Asian American Pacific Islander steering committee. AARP Maryland is launching a 16-week transit advertising campaign to help more Marylanders access COVID-19 vaccinations in their area. Aimed at audiences that may lack access to broadband internet, the posters appearing in both English and Spanish on 35 bus shelters and 206 transit buses across Baltimore, Montgomery County and the Eastern Shore shares the state’s toll-free line (855-GO-MDVAX) if they have questions or to schedule a vaccine appointment.
ANNAPOLIS, MD (January 12, 2021) – As the Maryland General Assembly prepares to convene on January 13, AARP Maryland State President Jim Campbell and State Director Hank Greenberg are announcing the organization’s 2021 legislative agenda, with a focus on prescription drug affordability, protections for nursing home and assisted living facility residents and staff, expansion of high-speed internet, and support for Maryland’s 771,000 family caregivers.
AARP Maryland teamed up with the Maryland Retired School Personnel Association (MRSPA) and the National Retired Teachers Association (NRTA), to assist parents and caregivers juggling school distance learning and family well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic.
