Today, AARP announced the awardees for its 2019 AARP Community Challenge grant program, including four recipients right here in Massachusetts. A total of nearly $1.6 million will be distributed to fund 159 “quick action” projects across the country, helping communities make immediate improvements and jumpstart long-term progress to support residents of all ages. Nearly 1,700 applications were received from non-profits and government entities for the program, now in its third year. After funding 217 projects between 2017 and 2018, AARP has increased its investment to nearly $1.6 million for 159 projects this year.

Did you know that someone’s identity is stolen every two seconds? AARP Massachusetts is doing our part to help you avoid identity theft and fraud by offering free Fraud Watch Network shredding events. Shredding confidential documents is a good way to protect yourself from scammers.
On Tuesdays in September, AARP members and up to 5 guests can gain free admission to the Tower Hill Botanic Garden located in Boylston. AARP members and their guests will receive one free admission and up to five additional free admissions. The entire group of up to six people must arrive in one vehicle and mention the code "FUN50" at the welcome gate.
AARP state offices are seeking nominations for the AARP Andrus Award for Community Service. The association's most prestigious volunteer tribute recognizes outstanding individuals age 50 and older who are sharing their experience, talents and skills to enrich the lives of others. The AARP Andrus Award for Community Service is an annual awards program developed to honor individuals whose service is a unique and valuable contribution to society. Last year, AARP recognized 50 outstanding individuals and couples from around the country.
