AARP state offices are seeking nominations for the AARP Andrus Award for Community Service. The association's most prestigious volunteer tribute recognizes outstanding individuals age 50 and older who are sharing their experience, talents and skills to enrich the lives of others. The AARP Andrus Award for Community Service is an annual awards program developed to honor individuals whose service is a unique and valuable contribution to society. Last year, AARP recognized 50 outstanding individuals and couples from around the country.
The AARP Massachusetts Executive Council (EC) provides strategic direction for AARP at the state level. The volunteer board is led by State President Sandra Harris. Each member brings uniquely valuable skills and experience to AARP.
“The human contribution is the essential ingredient. It is only in the giving of oneself to others that we truly live.” The quote by AARP founder Ethel Percy Andrus still rings true today and continues to shape this association dedicated to helping people age 50+ live their best lives.
The Manchester Parks and Recreation’s “Walk for your Health” program is returning for its fall session, and AARP has all the details! This walking group is open to people of all ages who want to get out in the crisp air, exercise and meet new friends! The series will run from Wednesday, September 6 – Monday, November 13, with walks taking place on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 9:00 AM and beginning from a variety of locations.
