Walk With a Doc®

AARP Massachusetts is working with the non-profit group, Walk With a Doc®, hosting monthly walks with a healthcare professional in Worcester this year. People of all ages, fitness levels, and backgrounds are welcome to these free, ongoing events.

Here is a list of the upcoming monthly walks in 2023- click the date to register for it.

Weather may impact our plans, so you will be notified before the walk if things change. During the winter months, the walks will take place at St. Vincent Hospital inside the atrium. When warmer weather arrives will take a walk in Worcester's Elm Park

Why Walk? Walking is one of the single most important things we can do for our health -  it’s good for your heart, brain, bones, lungs, muscles, joints, and may help to prevent cancer and other chronic diseases. See 100 reasons to walk at walkwithadoc.org/why-walk.

Each "Walk with a Doc" is the first Saturday of each month from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m
We start out with a brief chat with the medical provider, talk about the physical and mental health benefits of walking and then enjoy a healthy walk at our own pace. You can ask some basic, general health questions too.

More About Walk With A Doc:
Walk with a Doc is an international nonprofit organization started by Dr. David Sabgir, a cardiologist in Columbus Ohio. In 2005, Dr. Sabgir invited 100 patients and community members to go for a walk with him in a local park. Since that successful day, the movement has spread around the globe and now hundreds of communities are enjoying the countless benefits of walking with their healthcare providers on an ongoing basis.
