AARP is urging state lawmakers to expand Michigan’s Homestead Property Tax Credit. The credit, which was claimed by 27 percent of all Michigan households in 2023, provides a state-tax refund for qualifying homeowners based on factors such as household income and a home’s taxable value. Renters can claim the credit, too, on the assumption that a portion of property tax is passed on to them in rent.

Low Rates of Up-to-Date Vaccinations Increase Vulnerability for Residents & Staff
Today, AARP Michigan announced key findings from its newly released Michigan Prescription Drug Survey that shows more than half (57%) of Michigan adults 50 and older are concerned they will not be able to afford prescription drugs over the next few years for themselves or their families. Three in four (75%) report they take prescription medications on a regular basis, and 58% cite not filling a prescription because of cost.
