AARP Michigan is working on the “Menopause: It’s a Movement!” campaign, led by the Michigan Women’s Commission. Since March, women from across the state have attended panels in which menopause experts seek to help them better advocate for their midlife health. Their stories — and potential policy changes — will be included in a March 2026 report detailing possible next steps.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, by 2034 the nation will have more people age 65 or older than under 18. By 2060, nearly 1 in 4 people in the United States will be at least 65 years old. Those aren't just fun facts. They are a wake-up call for communities to start planning for a future where aging well is the norm, not the exception.

Eighty years ago, the world witnessed the end of one of the most devastating conflicts in human history - World War II. The Greatest Generation, those who fought in or supported the American and Allied forces during WWII, embodied a spirit of unity, perseverance and selflessness.
Tax-Aide offers free in-person and online tax preparation and assistance to low- and moderate-income taxpayers in Michigan and nationwide. Individuals interested in volunteering should apply by September 30th for the 2021 Tax Season.
All eligible adults can now use an absentee ballot with no excuse necessary, after voters approved a constitutional amendment in 2018. They can also register to vote up through Election Day.
Virtual program scheduled for Sept. 17 will include celebrity panelists and experts, with the goal of building a strong policy agenda for African American women 50 and older. Everyone is invited to this free event.
The $28,300 grant, one of two awarded in Michigan this year, will be used to explore the impact of virtual programs on social isolation.
The $16,055 grant will be used to pay for installation of five ADA-approved benches to be placed along a business corridor, accommodating residents with limited mobility, and increasing access to a city pathway.

The campaign launched today will provide information on where candidates stand on issues that matter to Michiganders 50-plus and help them cast their votes safely from home or in-person.
AARP Michigan strongly endorses the Elder Persons Millage on the ballot in Ingham County in the Aug. 4 primary election. The funds from the senior millage -- which would raise about $2.3 million each year for four years -- would pay for in-home services that help older adults 60 years and older live independently in their own homes.
