Following is a statement from AARP Michigan President Thomas Kimble in reaction to Gov. Rick Snyder’s State of the State address Thursday evening:
WASHINGTON, D.C. – AARP Foundation today announced it has established a relief fund to support older adults suffering from the severe cold weather that has gripped much of the nation. AARP and its members are committed to helping those in need; so to support these emergency relief efforts AARP and AARP Foundation will match dollar-for-dollar contributions up to $250,000, which could mean up to $500,000 in aid. The matching program will be administered through AARP Foundation.
AARP Michigan has sent the following letter to state legislators regarding the budget surplus:
Washington, DC – On Wednesday, January 8, Thomas Kimble of Clarkston participated in the graduation ceremony for the inaugural class of AARP’s Volunteer Leadership Institute or VLI. He was joined by 22 other exceptional volunteers from all across the country.
This year, AARP Foundation is again providing free tax assistance and preparation for taxpayers with low to moderate income through the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program.
