AARP APPLAUDS CREATION OF BIPARTISAN LONG TERM CARE CAUCUS

Minnesota Capitol
AARP Minnesota Director, Michele Kimball issued the following statement

regarding the creation of a bipartisan Long Term Care Caucus dedicated

to addressing the needs of Minnesota’s aging population

“AARP Minnesota applauds today’s creation of a bipartisan caucus committed to meeting the needs of Minnesota seniors.  In the coming decades, as our state ages – mostly in suburban and rural communities – we must double our efforts to ensure their care, security and quality of life.

“As Minnesota’s aging population increases, our state’s commitment to funding long term care must increase as well.  If we are going to meet the needs of tomorrow’s seniors, we must invest in both quality improvements as well as a highly trained and adequately compensated workforce.

“Minnesota seniors and their families deserve quality care and support – care that can only be provided if we invest in the caregivers who are the backbone of Minnesota’s senior care system.”
