Gateway Greening at the Great Perennial Divide

Like to get your hands dirty?  Need a little ‘soil therapy'?  AARP would like to share information about a volunteer opportunity for those of us who like to dig in the dirt from Gateway Greening. The Great Perennial Divide is St. Louis' largest gardening volunteer event involving more than 75 gardens across the metro area.

Gateway Greening has been educating and empowering people across St. Louis to strengthen their communities through gardening and urban agriculture for over 30 years.  Community gardens have been proven to benefit neighborhoods by providing access to fresh, healthy food, increasing property values and decreasing crime. They are sources of neighborhood pride that bring communities together while providing educational opportunities, physical activity and nutrition.

In April and May, volunteers are needed to help with prep work and distribution of donated plant material to the Gateway Greening network of community and youth gardens. Volunteers can build their gardening and plant identification skills, meet new gardeners and get involved in neighborhoods across St. Louis!
