Volunteers are the backbone of AARP’s efforts for older Montanans, and the state office is celebrating their contributions by hosting a free concert during National Volunteer Week.

The Heart of Montana event is Thursday, April 19, at the Myrna Loy Center in Helena. The concert features award-winning performer Jack Gladstone, a member of the Blackfeet Nation, whose lyrics speak of cultural change in the West. A volunteer appreciation reception at 5:30 p.m. will precede the 7 p.m. performance.

“Through volunteerism, we discover the power to unite in making a difference,” said Tim Summers, AARP state director. The benefits work both ways: Research shows volunteering is a boon to healthy aging.

The event is open to the public, but registration is required. Call 877-926-8300 toll-free or go to aarp.org/mt to sign up.
