Tax credits for caregivers, paid sick leave for workers, broadband internet access and prescription drug costs are issues important to Nebraska residents 50 and older.

State lawmakers are expected to consider legislation on these topics when the 2020 legislative session kicks off Jan. 8.

Bills related to caregiving will be a top priority for AARP Nebraska, which has advocated for a tax credit to help residents who care for loved ones at home.

Volunteers are needed to meet with lawmakers, testify at hearings and join in lobbying days.

People interested should contact Jina Ragland, AARP Nebraska advocacy director, at jragland@aarp.org or by calling 866-389-5651.
