AARP Community Challenge Grants Are Back in 2019

AARP is supporting a bill in the Nebraska Legislature to shine light on the cost of manufacturing prescription drugs.
AARP, the nation’s strongest voice for people age 50 and older, has endorsed legislation to help provide Nebraskans with the workplace flexibility they need to care for their loved ones without putting their jobs and finances in jeopardy.

Carol Knaub of Gering has been selected to receive AARP Nebraska’s highest volunteer award. She is the 17th volunteer to be honored with the annual AARP Nebraska Andrus Award for Community Service since 2002.

Today, in Nebraska more than 300,000 people over 65 and individuals with disabilities are covered by Medicare for their health care.
AARP is now accepting applications for the 2018 Community Challenge grant program to fund “quick-action” projects that spark change in local communities. The grant program, which is now in its second year, is part of AARP’s nationwide Livable Communities initiative, which aims to make communities great places to live for everyone.
AARP Nebraska and Better Business Bureau (BBB) Foundation will host a special program featuring identity theft and consumer fraud expert Eva Velasquez in Grand Island and Lincoln April 10 and in Ralston April 11.
