AARP Eye Center
Join the Latin Chamber of Commerce of Nevada and AARP Nevada as we host a roundtable to discuss the future of Social Security and its impact on Hispanics.
The hosted lunch meeting, which is open to the public, will be led by AARP Senior Vice President John Hishta, and Latin Chamber President Peter Guzman. They will lead an open discussion on the current state of Social Security and the direct impact doing nothing to address issues with the program will have on the Hispanic community and the nation as a whole.
AARP has led a bi-partisan campaign in 2016 to ask both Presidential candidates, and those running for Federal offices in each state, to Take A Stand on Social Security and ask candidates what they will do to solve this important issue. If the next President doesn't take bold action on Social Security, we could see our hard-earned benefits cut by nearly 25% in less than 20 years. The risk to current and future generations is great if nothing is done to preserve Social Securty. If our leaders don’t act, future retirees could lose up $10,000 a year.
Social Security affects not just the 60 million who rely on its benefits today, but also the 170 million workers who pay into the program and are counting on it for tomorrow. It is one of America's great success stories, and it touches, in some way, nearly every individual and family in the country.
Join us to be a part of this roundtable to discuss the options on the table and the potential impact they could have on Nevada's Latino community. We'll explore options, educate the public, and gain a better understanding of why the issue is vital during this election season.
The event kicks of at the Latin Chamber of Commerce, 300 N. 13th Street, Las Vegas, 89101, at 11 AM with lunch, and will conclude at 1 PM. Please email bgold@aarp.org to RSVP for the event.
