Dianne Billey of Ellendale has been appointed to the AARP North Dakota Executive Council.

Billey has a wide range of volunteer and employment experiences in leading, planning, organizing, and training individuals of all ages.

During her career, she spent 17 years as a program coordinator and career counselor at the Aberdeen (S.D.) Area Career Planning Center, where she planned and implemented an adult office technology training program, conducted workshops, and counseled and trained adults with barriers to employment.

Billey is also active as a volunteer. She served 12 years on the American Lung Association Board of Directors with two of those years as president. She was a member of the St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees in Aberdeen for six years. She served as president of Ellendale’s Christ the King Lutheran Church congregation and is currently a lay representative on the Evangelical Lutheran Church in American Eastern North Dakota Synod Council.

Dianne has a bachelor’s degree from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn., and a master’s degree in education from Northern State University, Aberdeen.

AARP Executive Council members work with staff and other volunteers to provide ongoing strategic direction for state activities in support of AARP priority issues. Executive Council terms are two years and members may be reappointed twice.

Other Executive Council members are Mike Tomasko, West Fargo; Susan Wefald, Bismarck; David Braaten, Grand Forks; and Sharon Johnson, Minot.

AARP has nearly 85,000 members in North Dakota.
