New Law Offers Aid for Caregivers

Caregiver
El Año Pasado, el gobernador Brown firmó la ley SB 675 (Liu), estableciendo la Ley de Hospital y Cuidador Familiar de California.

Residents across North Dakota can take advantage of more caregiving protections thanks to a new law that took effect Aug. 1.

North Dakota is home to about 62,000 family caregivers, and as part of the legislation, known as the CARE Act, hospitals now must provide additional information to patients and their loved ones.

Under the new rules, hospitals need to ensure that a patient’s caregiver is informed of care plans and provide instructions on how to perform medical tasks the caregiver will need to provide at home.

North Dakota residents can download and print a card reminding patients of the new law at aarp.org/walletcards.
