2022 AARP Livable Communities Workshop: Housing for People of All Ages

Housing needs change as we age, but it’s possible for our homes and communities to be livable for people of all ages and life stages.

The 2022 AARP Livable Communities Workshop seeks to focus on that.

The two-day workshop, Housing for People of All Ages, will share best practices, insights and inspiring next steps for meeting the housing needs of a changing nation. A free, virtual gathering of national and local leaders, housing practitioners, and AARP staff and volunteers, the event will explore how communities nationwide can provide safe, affordable housing options for individuals and families of all backgrounds, incomes and abilities.

Participants in this two-day workshop will discuss inclusive, purposeful and innovative approaches that are central to providing housing to people of all ages and ability levels through four key themes: Housing Choice, Design, Stability, and Equity.

Presentations from more than 30 speakers will include: keynote Sara Bronin, a Mexican-American architect and attorney, Cornell University professor and founder of Desegregate Connecticut; Bryan Greene, vice president of policy advocacy at the National Association of REALTORS; Susan DeMarois, director of the California Department of Aging; and Senator Justin Wayne, senator in the Nebraska State Legislature who introduced the Municipal Density and Missing Middle Housing Act.

A variety of panel presentations and Innovation Showcases will feature replicable best practices from practitioners across the country (and internationally) and offer a deep dive into proven strategies and programs.

The online workshop will be held September 21 and 22 from 1 to 4 p.m. ET. To learn more and register for free, visit: AARP.org/Livable2022
