AARP is encouraging Oklahomans to participate in Senior Day at the Capitol on Monday, March 30, for a chance to meet in person with their lawmakers and discuss issues important to older adults.

AARP Oklahoma is seeking volunteers to advocate on issues important to older residents during the 2025 legislative session, which begins in February.

The state Legislature returns on Monday, Feb. 6, and AARP needs volunteers to help educate lawmakers about issues important to older Oklahomans. Volunteers can participate in person or virtually.

The AARP Oklahoma Pittsburg County chapter is doing its part to bring joy to Talihina VA Veterans Center residents during this holiday season.

This year, Oklahoma lawmakers are expected to consider measures that would improve protections for those living in assisted living communities, lower prescription drug costs and help ensure that residents don’t become victims of fraud or abuse.

Volunteers across Oklahoma will spend the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance fighting hunger.

Please join AARP Oklahoma as we give back to our communities through volunteerism and the 2019 AARP Day of Service. Join us September 11, 2019 in McAlester, Oklahoma City, Shawnee or Tulsa as we roll up our sleeves to participate in local community service projects. AARP staff and volunteers will be volunteering at the local food banks in Oklahoma City, Shawnee and Tulsa. In McAlester, volunteers will assemble backpacks with food for children needing nutritional snacks on the weekends.

AARP is now accepting nominations for its 2019 Oklahoma Andrus Award for Community Service, which honors age-50+ Oklahomans who are sharing their experience, talent, and skills to enrich the lives of their community members.
