AARP Oklahoma is hosting an interactive town hall focused on the latest updates to Medicare and Social Security on October 9 at 10 a.m. During the interactive town hall, the panelists will cover key topics including:
- Medicare Open Enrollment (October 15–December 7): Learn how to review and update your Medicare Advantage and/or Part D prescription drug plans.
- Upcoming Medicare Changes in 2026: The launch of the Wasteful and Inappropriate Service Reduction (WISeR) Model, which begins on January 1, 2026. This pilot program will require prior authorization for certain outpatient procedures under Original Medicare in six states, including Oklahoma
- Part D Drug Coverage & Financial Assistance: Discover options available through the Medicare Improvement for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA), which helps eligible beneficiaries lower premiums and deductibles.
- Social Security Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) and how it affects your pocketbook, benefit changes, and how to protect yourself from Social Security and Medicare scams.
The panel includes AARP Oklahoma State Director Sean Voskuhl, Director for the Medicare Assistance Program at the Oklahoma Insurance Department, Ray Walker, Elaine Binkley, program coordinator from Oklahoma Human Services’ Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act, or MIPPA. and Social Security Administration Public Affairs Specialists Debbie Sawyer-Smith and Tonya Carter.
