Regardless of where family caregivers find themselves in the continuum of caregiving- starting to plan, coordinating a big move, or taking care of a loved one your own home- resources and experts are available to help. Breakout session topics include; respite programs, health and wellness, ways to recharge and energize, connecting with other caregivers and resources for aging in place.

Kendra Orcutt, AARP Oklahoma volunteer and occupational therapist, will host a breakout workshop on AARP’s HomeFit program during the conference. AARP's HomeFit was created to help people stay in the homes they love by turning where they live into a "lifelong home," suitable for themselves and anyone in their household. This workshop will help attendees understand how homes can be designed and modified to navigate independently in living areas and how to make a home as safe as possible.

“Approximately 524,000 Oklahomans are family caregivers. AARP Oklahoma recognizes these caregivers provide a labor of love and deserve our support,” said Sean Voskuhl, AARP Oklahoma state director. “AARP Oklahoma works to assist them with support and information on caregiving solutions such as training, help at home, flexibility at work, and general tools to make big responsibilities easier.”

Although the event is free to attend, registration is required. Registration deadline is 5 p.m. on November 26, 2018.

Caregivers may be eligible to receive a respite voucher to pay for their loved one’s care during the conference. Call 405-271-5700, extension 47801 for additional information.
