The AARP Fraud Watch Network brings fraud-fighting efforts to Oklahomans across the state with five, free Operation: Stop Scams shredding events in Clinton, Oklahoma City, Shawnee and Tulsa beginning April 17, 2018.
“At the end of tax-filing season many Oklahomans clean out old financial documents which often contain personal information. AARP Oklahoma’s Operation Stop Scams shredding events will provide a safe, convenient way for people to destroy this sensitive paperwork,” said JoeAnn Vermillion, AARP Oklahoma State President.
Identity thieves routinely search through dumpsters and trash cans, looking to find confidential information. Shredding documents such as bank and credit card statements, tax forms and medical bills, is one way to keep your identity safe. Shredding services will be performed by a third party. All documents and information provided for shredding are subject to that party’s privacy and informational security policies.
Oklahomans are invited to bring their documents (two box maximum please) to the following locations and may pre-register at 1-877-926-8300 or online (links below). Individuals who pre-register will be entered to win a micro-cut shredder.

Users may sign up for “Watchdog Alert” emails that deliver breaking scam information, or call a free helpline at 877-908-3360 to speak with volunteers trained in fraud counseling.
