Security Breach Letter from SCDOR

scdorletter

The SC Department of Revenue has begun mailing letters to South Carolina taxpayers regarding the October security breach.  The letter encourages individuals to take advantage of the free credit monitoring service for a year from Experian.  Also, there is information regarding how to implement a security freeze on your personal credit history.

South Carolina residents can place a freeze and a thaw (yeah, it's winter) for FREE thanks to a law passed in 2008.  This can be done via phone or online and each person must complete the process for a freeze and the credit monitoring service.  The deadline for enrolling in the credit monitoring service is now March 31, 2013.
