In February, state residents can make their voices heard at three AARP South Dakota–sponsored legislative coffee events in Sioux Falls.

When the legislature convenes this month for its nine-week session, AARP South Dakota and its volunteer advocates will be promoting policies that benefit older adults.

The month of March is upon us which means we are nearing the end of the 2021 South Dakota legislative session!

With Week 5 in the books, we have officially reached the half way point of SD's 2021 legislative session and AARP is proud to be working on several bills to help protect the rights of voters, nursing home residents and those with pre-existing conditions in our state.

Week three is in the books and AARP SD is making sure your legislators know we are watching happens in Pierre! On Tuesday, AARP South Dakota held its annual Lobby Day - virtually! AARP Advocates participated in a virtual discussion about our 2020 legislative priorities, had a Q&A with SD Secretary of State Steve Barnett regarding the 2020 elections and live-streamed the Senate and House floor sessions.

The 2021 South Dakota legislative session kicked off this week and though some things may look a little different, AARP South Dakota’s is still making sure your voice is heard!

The coronavirus pandemic is expected to linger over this year’s legislative session when state lawmakers return to Pierre this month.
