AARP Foundation, with support from the Corporation for National and Community Service’s Social Innovation Fund, will choose five community colleges to receive nearly $3 million in grants to help women age 50+ find jobs, reduce debt and rebuild savings--paving the way to greater financial stability. Texas community colleges will compete against colleges in New Mexico, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and Florida.
This program is part of the BACK TO WORK 50+ pilot launched in 2013.
“Our Back to Work 50+ Initiative has set thousands of older workers on the path toward rejoining the workforce, and with the support of the Social Innovation Fund, we are looking forward to rigorously testing the model in community colleges,” said Emily Allen, AARP Foundation vice president.
BACK TO WORK 50+ has expanded to 20 markets across 14 states and has provided more than 5,000 unemployed workers information and resources to help them find work.
