AARP is teaming up with civic leaders and groups to make Fort Worth an even better place to live, work and play for people of all ages.
September is Age-Friendly Fort Worth Month, and there'll be exciting events throughout the community to showcase what’s in store now that Fort Worth is a member of the AARP Network of Age-Friendly Communities.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 12, a “Celebrate Riverside!” event will be held in the Riverside Arts District just northeast of downtown Fort Worth. There'll be music, art, a bike rodeo and other fun for the whole family. Then, on Sept. 20, we'll be at the Ciclovia in Fort Worth where participants can join in a bike ride or stroll. Learn more and RSVP.
These family-friendly happenings bring to focus what’s been going on for some time in Fort Worth.
For instance, in the neighborhood of artists, professionals and working class residents known as the Six Points Urban Village in the Riverside Direct, a cadre of AARP volunteers have been collaborating with community leaders and residents to transform the neighborhood into a vibrant, walkable place.
